Basketball Recap: Banff Comes Up Short

Banff played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 62-26 loss at the hands of the School of the Woods Wildcats. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-17.

Banff's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Issac Sumpter, who posted four points along with 18 boards and four blocks, and Jayden Oriedetu, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Oriedetu is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Banff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as School of the Woods only pulled down two offensive boards.

Adam Zagaar was his usual excellent self, putting up 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals for School of the Woods. The team also got some help courtesy of Pace Graff, who scored six points along with five assists and four steals.

Banff has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for School of the Woods, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-2.

Banff has already played their next contest, a 61-37 defeat against Humble Christian on the 28th. As for School of the Woods, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-47 loss against Annapolis Christian Academy on the 25th.
