Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mattoon). They walked away with a 48-37 win over the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights on Saturday. The Greenwave have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mckenna Blaudow, who posted seven points. The dominant performance also gave Blaudow a new career-high in rebounds (four). Another player making a difference was Sophie Monts, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Mattoon's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Mattoon and Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Mattoon (ranked 446th) will meet Taylorville (ranked 177th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond (ranked 451st) will meet Sullivan (ranked 93rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
