Baseball Recap: Fort Jennings Wins Going Away Against Antwerp

Fort Jennings was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Antwerp on Monday. The Musketeers put the hurt on the Archers with a sharp 16-4 victory. Considering the Musketeers have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Calvin Menke made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Menke was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Sam Dube was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Evan Ellerbrock was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Fort Jennings kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Fort Jennings now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Antwerp, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Fort Jennings will square off against Columbus Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Antwerp, they will face off against Edgerton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Archers surely won't give up without a fight.
