It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Flanagan Falcons had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 58-34 victory. Flanagan has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.
Flanagan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tearra Mortimer out in front who scored 20 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mortimer has scored all season. D?naela Myers was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 23 rebounds.
Braddock's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Anna Rubiera, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Yvonne Jebian who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Rubiera scored 15 or more points.
The win makes it two in a row for Flanagan and bumps their season record up to 14-9. As for Braddock, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
Flanagan will head out on the road to square off against Doral Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Flanagan has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Braddock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
