The Woodgrove Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Broad Run Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Woodgrove's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Woodgrove put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Park View on the road to the tune of 77-47. Given Woodgrove's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Park View is ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodgrove can attribute much of their success to Joey Marcheschi, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hill, who scored 13 points.
Broad Run posted their biggest win yet this season last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 67-43 margin over Loudoun County. The win was just what Broad Run needed coming off of a 69-49 loss in their prior match.
Woodgrove's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Broad Run, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Woodgrove came up short against Broad Run in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 60-55. Thankfully for Woodgrove, Matin Perdue (who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
