The Pinellas Park Patriots suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 73-25 loss at the hands of Gibbs. Pinellas Park has struggled against Gibbs recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Pinellas Park lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ja?naija Roney. Despite the final result, she scored ten points.
Leading Gibbs to victory were Lakeyia Thompson and Peyton Flournoy. Thompson scored 20 points, while Flournoy scored 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Flournoy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zacoya Grant, who scored eight points.
Pinellas Park's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Gibbs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinellas Park will square off against St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Petersburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Monday. As for Gibbs, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hollins at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hollins has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
