The Shadow Ridge Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Faith Lutheran Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Shadow Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Shadow Ridge will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Las Vegas on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 12-0 shutout. The matchup marked the Mustangs' most dominant win of the season.
Shadow Ridge got a great performance from Bryce Judd as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Evan Noble was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Oliver Schoppmann was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Shadow Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Vegas only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran faced Palo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Crusaders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted since May 9, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Macen Collura, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Rookie Shepard, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Faith Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Shadow Ridge, their record now sits at 9-14.
Shadow Ridge couldn't quite finish off Faith Lutheran in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
