Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Millard South walked away with it. They really took it to the Omaha Westside Warriors for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-21 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 11 matchups by 41 points or more so far this season.
Jett Thomalla had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 463 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 13.6 yards per attempt. Those 463 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Millard South's leading receiver Owen Zech was Thomalla's top target yet again, picking up 116 receiving yards and three TDs.
Millard South's run defense was locked in: Omaha Westside could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Teagan Urban for the heroic effort on defense: he. Millard South's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.7.
Millard South's defense didn't let Braylen Warren, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Solomon Baker was the leader with two. Urban was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Warren, who threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns. Tay Tay Jenkins helped Warren out on the ground, picking up 76 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 50 yards.
Millard South pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 47.1 points thus far. As for Omaha Westside, they moved to 10-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
Coming up, after both having extra time off, Millard South and Papillion-LaVista South will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:15 p.m. on the 25th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Patriots 3.7, the Titans 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Omaha Westside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
