The Long Branch Green Wave's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-34 walloping at the hands of Neptune. While losing is never fun, Long Branch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Neptune is ranked 112th).
It was another big night for Bre Evans, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals for Neptune. That's the first time this season that Evans pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Christa Ramos, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Long Branch's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Neptune, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Long Branch will take on Point Pleasant Boro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neptune won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Freehold Township at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th.
