The Sacopee Valley Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Lisbon Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Monday, Sacopee Valley came up short against Gray-New Gloucester and fell 10-5. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sacopee Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Harvey, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Lisbon came out on top against Dirigo on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Greyhounds had just enough and edged out the Cougars 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Greyhounds have posted since May 4, 2024.
Cody Osmond was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Osmond was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other pitching news, Jacob Fitzsimmons looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits.
Back at the plate, Keeghan Morrissette was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Brayden Decato, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Sacopee Valley now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lisbon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sacopee Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lisbon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Sacopee Valley's way against Lisbon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Sacopee Valley made off with a 10-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
