On Friday, The Loudoun Valley Vikings''s game was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past Heritage with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. That's two games straight that Loudoun Valley has won by exactly 14 points.
Loudoun Valley found their leader in underclassman Macklin Gaffney, who rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Gaffney was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Lafollette, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Luke Wingfield, who rushed for 203 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Loudoun Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Heritage, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Loudoun Valley will square off against Dominion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dominion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Loudoun Valley is ranked 103rd). As for Heritage, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rock Ridge at 7:00 p.m. Rock Ridge is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
