Baseball Recap: Mansfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After a string of four wins, Mansfield's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Attleboro Bombardiers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bombardiers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

Brendan Vokey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Mansfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was James Warren, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Attleboro, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Mansfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Attleboro, they will be playing at home against Wachusett Regional at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bombardiers 3.3, the Mountaineers 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
