The contest between Lopez and Grace Academy wasn't particularly close, with Lopez falling 53-36. Lopez lost against Grace Academy in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-33 score last time.
Candice Mugo-Wainaina was a one-man wrecking crew for Grace Academy as she scored 26 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Mugo-Wainaina has scored at least 25% of Grace Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Alice Mellema, who scored 14 points.
Lopez's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Grace Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Lopez will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shoreline Christian on January 9, 2024. As for Grace Academy, they will face off against Providence Classical Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
