The Decatur Community Red Devils were the 45-38 winner over the Oakley Plainsmen when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Decatur Community fell 40-31 to Oakley on Tuesday. Decatur Community has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Decatur Community lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kamryn Oien. Despite the final result, she scored seven points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Oakley found their leader in underclassman Jade Beckman, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Beckman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Karli Krier was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Decatur Community's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Oakley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-4.
Decatur Community will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northern Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Oakley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Plainville at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
