Chapin is 2-8 against River Bluff since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chapin Eagles will look to defend their home court against the River Bluff Gators at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Chapin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Chapin had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on White Knoll with a sharp 53-31 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Chapin has posted since December 1, 2023.
Chapin found their leader in underclassman Reagan Haggard, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Haggard has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keke Wright, who scored nine points along with four steals.
River Bluff suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Dutch Fork 78-31. While losing is never fun, River Bluff can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Dutch Fork is ranked 19th).
Chapin's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for River Bluff, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Chapin couldn't quite finish off River Bluff in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 43-40. Can Chapin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
