Jones and Simeon are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Jones came up short against Solorio and fell 7-4.
Madden Asbaty put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Asbaty wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Christophe DeWijkerslooth, who went 2-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Simeon got the win against Brooks on Monday by a conclusive 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Christian Lott looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Simeon got a massive performance out of Antwan Jackson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Jackson a new career-high. Ben Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Simeon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Simeon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
Everything went Jones' way against Simeon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Jones made off with a 14-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
