The Kenedy Lions will take on the Woodsboro Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kenedy is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since February 26th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Skidmore-Tynan 6-5.
Marisable Solis was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie De Leon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Kenedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodsboro). They never let Pettus get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for Woodsboro, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Aniya Zena was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Maddie Martinez and Chayse Wernli did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double, while Wernli got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Temperance Lewis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
The victory (which was Woodsboro's third in a row) raised their record to 21-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Kenedy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kenedy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .522. However, it's not like Woodsboro struggles in that department as they've averaged .496. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kenedy suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Woodsboro in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
