Northgate hasn't had much luck against Shenango recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Flames will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Northgate is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Northgate got the win against Aliquippa by a conclusive 17-1. The win continues a trend for the Flames in their matchups with the Quips: they've now won eight in a row.

Nick Rawlings made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Northgate: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Sylvan Patalano looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Turner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Northgate is undefeated when Turner posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Caleb Weiss was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shenango, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They skirted past Quaker Valley 6-4.
Like Northgate, Shenango also got a great game from a two-way player: Trey Ross. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ross was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Rance Emerick was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Christian Anterock, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
The victory got Northgate back to even at 3-3. As for Shenango, their record now sits at 6-1.
Northgate's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Flames have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Shenango, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Northgate continue to outrun the ball?
Northgate might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Shenango in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Flames avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
