Swansea is 0-3 against the Diamond Hornets since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Swansea Tigers' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Swansea will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Diamond Hornets are ranked 43rd).
Last Tuesday, Swansea had to suffer through a rough 48-21 loss at the hands of the Bruins. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Swansea in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Lower Richland put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gilbert 52-10 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Lower Richland as they're now sitting on five straight.
Lower Richland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jhnai Sumter, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Pa?Najala Curry, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Swansea has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Lower Richland, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Swansea was taken down by the Diamond Hornets 50-14 when the teams last played back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Swansea was down 33-11.
