The Jefferson Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 16th straight loss. They were dealt a 77-14 defeat at the hands of Alamo Heights. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1336th, while Alamo Heights is ranked 247th).
It was another big night for Talaiyah Andrews, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds for Alamo Heights. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Andrews has scored all season.
Jefferson has been struggling recently, as they've lost 19 of their last 20 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-25 record this season. As for Alamo Heights, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.
Jefferson will head out on the road to take on Highlands at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Highlands is on a three-game streak of home losses, Jefferson an 11-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Alamo Heights will take on Lanier at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Lanier and Alamo Heights are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
