After a string of four wins, the South Decatur Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Batesville on the road and fell 54-27. South Decatur has struggled against Batesville recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Kiley Best was South Decatur's leading scorer, having posted 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Batesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Gesell, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Maddie Haskamp was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
South Decatur's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Batesville, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
South Decatur will face off against Edinburgh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edinburgh has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21. As for Batesville, they will square off against South Dearborn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Dearborn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Batesville is ranked 114th).
