Horizon Science Academy is 5-0 against Cristo Rey since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Horizon Science Academy Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Cristo Rey Cougar at 7:30 p.m. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Horizon Science Academy pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Licking Valley by a score of 65-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (61), Horizon Science Academy still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Khiryn Mcneal, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Michael Amusan was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
After soaring to a 22-point win in their last game, Cristo Rey came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of Millersport by a score of 59-57. Cristo Rey has struggled against Millersport recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
This is the second loss in a row for Horizon Science Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Cristo Rey, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Horizon Science Academy against Cristo Rey in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 as the squad secured a 72-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Horizon Science Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
