Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Piedmont Highlanders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Alhambra on the road and fell 49-14. Piedmont's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Markos Lagios threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Sam Shelby was his top target, picking up 84 receiving yards. On the ground, Tommy Ashton rushed for 78 yards.
It was another big night for Beau Blau, who rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes. Blau is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Elias Aleman and his 95 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Alhambra's victory.
Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Alhambra, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Piedmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Alhambra will head out on the road to face off against Miramonte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Miramonte is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
