Immokalee is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing at home against the Ida Baker Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Immokalee will be strutting in after a win while Ida Baker will be coming in after a defeat.
Immokalee's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Donahue Catholic with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Aaron Yzaguirre made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Adrian Ramirez was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diego Gutierrez, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Immokalee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Donahue Catholic only posted a batting average of .227.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Ida Baker's offense. They came up short against Mariner on Friday, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since February 19th.
Ida Baker also got a good showing from Cole Lewis, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lewis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
Ida Baker now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Immokalee, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-8.
Immokalee came out on top in a nail-biter against Ida Baker when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. Will Immokalee repeat their success, or does Ida Baker have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
