The Hondo Owls have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were dealt a 75-38 loss at the hands of Lytle on Friday. Hondo has struggled against the Pirates recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Calyssa Sevier was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 33 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists for Lytle. Sevier is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 17 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Katara Whitfield, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Hondo's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Lytle, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-7.
Hondo will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Natalia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Lytle, they will head out on the road to challenge the Javelinas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal City will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
