Verbum Dei scaled the state rankings by moving to 694 from 740 this week, the biggest jump in Del Rey. The Eagles were able to move up by beating Bosco Tech 52-0.
St. Bernard fell to La Salle 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Verbum Dei's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Evan Rambo threw for 57 and 2 touchdowns and Tyler Frey had 57 yards receiving. On the ground Jacob LaRue chipped in 386 yards.
Jason Miller's team's dynamic duo of Rambo and Frey proved to be unstoppable against the Tigers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
LaRue was a force in the backfield as the Eagles beat Bosco Tech.
LaRue was a passing and rushing force as Verbum Dei topped Chris Shockley's team. LaRue's favorite target this week was Frey, who caught 2 passes for 57 yards.
Cantwell-Sacred Heart's Matthew Valencia and Chase Busse led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Valencia has thrown for 683 yards this season, while Busse, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 25 catches for 305 yards. The Eagles' LaRue leads the league in rushing yards with 988.
LaRue of the Verbum Dei is just 12 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. LaRue has rushed for 988 yards on 114 carries so far this year.
The Cardinals are in sixth place, while Bishop Montgomery is in first place.
The Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,041 from 10,651. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 52-0 victory over the Tigers last week.
