Baseball Recap: Oxford Has No Trouble Against Sedan

Oxford lost to Sedan back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Devils. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Connor Commerford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sam Wheeler and Jonathan Elliott did most of the damage at the plate: Wheeler went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Elliott went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Oxford's record is now 9-3. As for Sedan, they moved to 8-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Oxford beat the Devils by a score of 3-2 later that day.
