On Friday, the Westlake Thunder faced the Pleasant Grove Vikings in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Westlake walked away with a 48-39 win over Pleasant Grove. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westlake also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Austyn Feller was her usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Chloe Jensen was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Grove lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amber Cook. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tabi Clark, who scored 12 points.
Westlake has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Pleasant Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.
Westlake will be playing in front of their home fans against Lone Peak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Lone Peak is ranked third, while Westlake is ranked ninth). As for Pleasant Grove, they will head out on the road to take on Skyridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyridge is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
