Wonderful College Prep Academy had won three straight games and Selena Rico did her part to make it four on Thursday. Everything went the Wolves' way against Foothill as they made off with a 3-0 victory thanks in part to Rico, who had six kills, five digs, and four aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 aces per game.
While Wonderful College Prep Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-22.
Wonderful College Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniela Macias out in front who had 14 kills and seven digs. Macias is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Khobie Magana was another key player, getting four digs and three aces.
Wonderful College Prep Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Yosemite, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Madera 3-0 on Thursday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Yosemite walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 25-8.
Yosemite's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Wonderful College Prep Academy couldn't quite get it done against Yosemite when the teams last played back in September of 2016 as they fell 2-0. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
