Benjamin Russell is 5-0 against Valley since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Benjamin Russell Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Benjamin Russell sitting on five straight victories and Valley on three.
Last Friday, Benjamin Russell narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Helena 20-17.
Benjamin Russell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriel Benton, who threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Cederian Morgan did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Valley beat Carroll 27-21 on Friday.
Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cam?ron Dooley out in front who threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Tilyn Carrell, who rushed for 125 yards on only 14 carries.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 7-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Benjamin Russell has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Valley struggles in that department as they've been even better at 186.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Benjamin Russell against Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benjamin Russell since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
