The Whetstone Braves were the 31-14 winner over the Centennial Stars when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Whetstone received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 28-14 to Centennial. Whetstone has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Whetstone lost, one person who can't be blamed is Damarion McClinton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. McClinton was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards.
Centennial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amir Jones, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown. Roderick Leon Peterson III was another key contributor, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Whetstone's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Centennial, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.
Whetstone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Centennial also has no future games currently scheduled.
