The Highlands Ranch Falcons were the 73-55 winner over the Mullen Mustangs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Highlands Ranch took a 73-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mullen on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Bakken, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Bakken hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was George West III, who scored 11 points.
Mullen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Bonner out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bonner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Leslie, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten rebounds, and 11 assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Highlands Ranch and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Mullen, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highlands Ranch will take on ThunderRidge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. ThunderRidge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 486 points over their last seven matchups. As for Mullen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Overland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Overland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
