Hueneme and Carpinteria are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Vikings will head out to face off against the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Hueneme beat Channel Islands 13-10.
Delilah Pereyra made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. Pereyra was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hueneme got a massive performance out of Star Mitchell, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave Mitchell a new career-high. Savannah Magallon also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Hueneme kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 1.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carpinteria, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-16 win over Del Sol on Thursday. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Cecilia Lemus was incredible, getting four hits. Anaia Nunez was another key player, getting on base in three of her two plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Carpinteria's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hueneme, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8-1.
Everything went Hueneme's way against Carpinteria when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Hueneme made off with a 19-0 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
