St. James Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Blue Valley North Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, St. James Academy was the victim of a tough 35-14 loss at the hands of Kapaun Mt. Carmel. St. James Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Ben Wheeler put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 179 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Blue Valley North, who are still winless after their seventh game. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 28-7 walloping at the hands of Blue Valley Northwest on Friday. While losing is never fun, Blue Valley North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Blue Valley Northwest is ranked tenth).
St. James Academy has not been sharp this season, as they've lost six of their first seven contests, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season. As for Blue Valley North, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
St. James Academy came up short against Blue Valley North in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 25-20. Can St. James Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
