On Thursday, Martin County was the victim of a rough 62-42 loss at the hands of the Panthers. Martin County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Washington County found their leader in underclassman Ke'Myia Young, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Young hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Aaliyah Carter was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine assists.
Martin County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Washington County, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Martin County will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Red Barons at 6:00 p.m. Gates County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Knights in North Carolina (the Red Barons are ranked 123rd, while the Knights are ranked 452nd). As for Washington County, they will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Edgecombe is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
