The Dawson School Mustangs will head out to challenge the Kent Denver Sun Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dawson School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Dawson School turned things around against Platte Canyon on Friday. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 22-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the match before.

Declan Noonan made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.
In other batting news, Shelton Johnson was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Milo Richtel was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Dawson School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Kent Denver entered their tilt with Jefferson Academy on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Jaguars. While the Sun Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The result came thanks to Will Goldmanis's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Kent Denver's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Levi Pollyea, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Dawson School's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kent Denver, their record is now 8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dawson School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kent Denver struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
