The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hopi in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost nine in a row.
It was another big night for Kaelynn Nez, who scored 32 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Valley. That makes it four consecutive games in which Nez has scored at least a third of Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Trinity Mitchell, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Hopi has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Valley, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopi will face off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. As for they, they will head out on the road to take on St. Johns at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Johns presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pirates in Arizona (the Redskins are ranked 31st, while the Pirates are ranked 100th).
