The
Galileo (San Francisco, Calif.) left-handed senior completed 17 of 18 passes for 355 yards and four touchdowns as the visiting Lions defeated Lowell 57-30. Nelson now has a Bay Area-best 41 touchdown passes and he added 65 rushing yards and another score.
"He's been pretty unbelievable," Galileo coach Mark Huynh said. "I don't know how he scrambled out of those situations."
Isaac Armstrong caught two touchdown passes and
Rodney Morgan caught one
and returned an interception back 103 yards for another score as Galileo finished 10-1 overall and 7-0 in Academic Athletic Association play. Lowell finished 5-5 and 4-3.
In an odd twist on the final day of the AAA, the four playoff teams who will meet next week tangled on Friday.
In the other preview game, host
Lincoln (San Francisco) defeated Mission 34-0 as
Tyree Marzetta (13 carries, 181 yards) and
Davion Telfor (12-142), each rushed for two touchdowns against Mission (5-5, 5-2), which had its five-game win streak snapped.
Lincoln gave up just 189 yards and nine first downs.
Lincoln hosts Mission and Lowell travels to Galileo in first-round playoff action on Thursday. The winners play for the championship on Thanksgiving at Kezar Stadium.
