The King Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Middleton Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
King's three-game losing streak came to an end two weeks ago. They strolled past Chamberlain with points to spare, taking the game 15-0. The win was just what King needed coming off of a 29-3 loss in their prior game.
Middleton fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Sickles by a score of 15-7 on Friday.
Among those leading the charge was Joshua Balloon, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Balloon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Middleton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Sickles' QB won't forget Joseph Doston anytime soon given Doston sacked him five times.
King's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Middleton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for King against Middleton in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 35-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for King since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
