West Rowan has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Concord Spiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Rowan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 205 points over their last three contests.
Even though Carson scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, West Rowan still came out on top. West Rowan had just enough and edged Carson out 63-61. Given West Rowan's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Carson is ranked 329th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Will Givens was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Holmes, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Concord's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mooresville.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaden Reid, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Jeremiah Howard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
West Rowan's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
West Rowan was dealt a bruising 60-25 defeat at the hands of Concord in their previous matchup back in February. Can West Rowan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
