The Shoals Christian Flame have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-52 walloping at the hands of Decatur Heritage Christian Academy on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shoals Christian in their matchups with Decatur Heritage Christian Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Shoals Christian still got an impressive performance from Sarah Davis (2025), who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Davis (2025) scored a full 48.1% of Shoals Christian's points, the 17th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Owen, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Shoals Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Heritage Christian Academy only pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leslie Hames, who scored 26 points along with four steals. The game was Hames' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Cooper, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Shoals Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, their victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Shoals Christian will take on Covenant Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Covenant Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Shoals Christian is ranked 101st). As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against West End at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
