The Monroe Central Golden Bears had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Wes-Del by a score of 43-34. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Lane Wilson was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 26 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 91 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes. Another player making a difference was Ethan Hunt, who rushed for 128 yards while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Monroe Central's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Eli Goodspeed and his two sacks.
Despite the loss, Wes-Del still got an impressive performance from Triton Blevins, who rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Monroe Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Wes-Del, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Monroe Central will be playing at home against Sheridan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wes-Del does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
