Rusk had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  52-50  victory over the Pollok Central Bulldogs  on Friday. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the   40-26 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in November of 2023.
 Rusk found their leader in sophomore  Jakaiyah Jenkins, who  dropped  a double-double on 12 points and 11  rebounds. Jenkins has been hot , having  posted eight or more  rebounds the last five times she's  played. Another player making a difference was  JaNiyah Jackson, who  posted 13 points.
 Pollok Central now  has a losing record at 1-2.
 Rusk will square off against Pineywoods Community Academy at 6:15  p.m.  on Monday. As for Pollok Central, they will take on Douglass at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
