On Friday, The Bryant Hornets faced the Cabot Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bryant enjoyed a cozy 35-17 victory over Cabot. The win was familiar territory for Bryant who now have five in a row.
James Martin had a dynamite game for Bryant, rushing for 189 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Martin's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Bryant also got help from Shawn Rycraw who showed off his sure hands for 104 receiving yards.
Bryant's win was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Central and 1-8 Northside (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36% over those games). As for Cabot, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Bryant will be playing at home against North Little Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Little Rock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Bryant is ranked fourth). As for Cabot, they will head out on the road to face off against Northside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
