The Collegium Charter Cougar suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Renaissance Academy by a score of 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Renaissance Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taijae Byrd-Breazeale out in front who scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Ed Breazeale IV, who scored 15 points.
Collegium Charter has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Renaissance Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Collegium Charter won't have much time to rest: their next game is against La Academia Charter at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. As for Renaissance Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Alliance Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alliance Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
