Mercer extended their road winning streak to ten games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Anna Allen. The Mustangs skirted past the Sharon Tigers 3-2 for which the team can thank Allen, who had 24 digs and two assists. She has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played.
Mercer wouldn't go down easily and took Sharon into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-20, 25-18, 21-25, 16-14.
Despite the defeat, Sharon had strong showings from Dani Currie, who had 25 digs and three aces, and Emmalie Yobe, who had 31 assists and 17 digs. Addie McFann was another key player, getting 21 digs and one assist.
Mercer's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Sharon, they moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
