The El Campo Ricebirds will head out to square off against the Hallettsville Brahmas at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. El Campo will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
El Campo came out on top against Bay City on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Ricebirds took their matchup against the Blackcats 11-7. The win continues a trend for the Ricebirds in their matchups with the Blackcats: they've now won five in a row.
Kamryn Mears made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Mears was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Adrienne Rodriguez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Emma Labay was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hallettsville entered their tilt with Industrial on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Cobras.
Grace Halata spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caitlynn Halata, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Matula, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Hallettsville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
El Campo's record is now 19-6-1. As for Hallettsville, their record now sits at 21-4.
El Campo might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Hallettsville in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can the Ricebirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
