Softball Game Preview: Calallen Wildcats vs. Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees

Calallen is 9-1 against Tuloso-Midway since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will square off against the Warriors & Cherokees at 7:00 p.m. Calallen is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.

Last Tuesday, Calallen made easy work of Robstown and carried off a 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 16 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jordyn Thibodeaux spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kiana Vargas was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Kayden Trevino was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Tuloso-Midway got themselves on the board against Robstown on Friday, but Robstown never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cottonpickers with a sharp 7-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors & Cherokees sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Calallen pushed their record up to 23-4 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Tuloso-Midway, their win bumped their record up to 17-9-1.

Calallen took their victory against Tuloso-Midway in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
