Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Bellevue West Thunderbirds proved on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Millard South 81-50 on the road. With Bellevue West ahead 44-23 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Jaden Jackson went supernova for Bellevue West, scoring 26 points. Robby Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Millard South still got an impressive performance from Will Cooper, who scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds. Cooper scored a full 34% of Millard South's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bernie Anderson, who scored 13 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Bellevue West and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Millard South, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellevue West will take on Millard North at TBD on Thursday. Hopefully Millard North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday. As for Millard South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Omaha Central at 7:15 p.m.
