The Bovina Mustangs will be home for the holidays to greet the Accelerate Christian Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Bovina focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
Bovina scored the most points they've had all season to find success. Everything went their way against Claude as Bovina made off with a 58-36 win. That 58-36 margin sets a new team best for Bovina this season.
Bovina's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Miguel Lopez, who scored 14 points. The matchup was Lopez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Gabriel Nieto was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Accelerate Christian lost to Southcrest Christian on the road by a decisive 40-25 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Accelerate Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1523rd, while Southcrest Christian is ranked 717th).
Bovina's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Accelerate Christian, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-10.
Bovina came up short against Accelerate Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 52-42. Can Bovina avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
